| Notes | Between 1897 and 1921 the International studio was the U.S. edition (published from New York) of the Studio (London). During this period, a certain section of each issue was actually prepared in London before being incorporated into the American bulk of the magazine. In 1922 the International studio was purchased by the International Studio Inc., N.Y., and thereafter was published exclusively in America (the staff from this point including an Editor and a "European editor"). Editors: Mar. 1897-Nov. 1920, Charles Holme.--Dec. 1920-Jan. 1922, G. C. Eglington.--Mar. 1922-Sept. 1925, Peyton Boswell.--Oct. 1925-Mar. 1928, W. B. McCormick.--Apr. 1928-Aug. 1931, H. J. Whigham. European editors : April 1928--February 1929 : C. Reginald Grundy ; March 1929--August 1931 : Frank Rutter. No issue published for February 1922. Volume number changes every six months, with April and October issues, 1897-1924. Vol. 82 contains three issues only (nos. 341-343, Oct.-Dec. 1925). From Vol. 83 (Jan.-April 1926), volume number changes every four months, with each January, May and September issue. Issues numbered in one continuous sequence throughout. Between 1897 and 1921 (when it was the U.S. edition of the London 'Studio'), Vol. 1 [etc.] of the International studio corresponded with Vol. 10 [etc.] of the Studio (London). Absorbed by : The Connoisseur, in September 1931. |
