This book accompanied an exhibition of southern-related art held at the Greenville County Museum of Art from August 5-September 14, 1986.

The artists are: Josephine Crawford, Anne Goldthwaite, Nell Choate Jones, Blanche Lazzell, Clara Weaver Parrish, Alice Ravenel Smith, Mary Harvey Tannahill, and Helen Turner. Six to nine of their paintings are included along with a brief biography. Two works from each artist are in color - some in full page.
