| Notes | This booklet points out, among other facts, the influence upon Holland’s pioneer modern architect, H. P. Berlage (1856-1934), of the work of H. H. Richardson, Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright. To be sure Wright’s designs had been published in Germany in 1910. It was Berlage, however, who, by writing and lectures, called Wright to the attention of the Dutch people. And in no European country has Wright a firmer standing today. The greater part of this little book is given over to the discussion of current problems including city planning, new materials, “functionalism,” new structural systems, new living requirements, housing, and similar matters. |
