Grey cloth, lettering stamped on upper board and spine; 4to; illustrated throughout with tipped-on sepia, blue-tint, and b/w plates, including 18 photogravures. A very rare item, illustrated with 110 reproductions, the majority mounted at two corners only, each with letterpress title, number, and photographer's credit. The book is divided into British, American, French, German, and Belgian sections with essays by Clive Holland, Charles H. Caffin, Horsley Hinton, and Enrico Thovez. Among the artists are Steichen, Coburn, and Stieglitz. Nicely traces the progression of photography during the late-19th and early-20th centuries.
