The platinum images in this portfolio were printed by Phil Davis using Struss' vintage film negatives and glass plates. Fourteen of the 15 prints are on hand-coated Crane paper. "Lower Broadway" is on hand-coated Moriki Japanese tissue. Professor of photography at The University of Michigan, Davis is an authority on vintage printing processes. His work is represented in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, the Chicago Art Institute, and the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The portfolio tray cases were designed and handmade to archival standards by Michigan book conservator James W. Craven. The fabric is Centennial black, stamped in 24k gold.

Design for the portfolio lining and text booklet was by Carol A. Taylor. The illustration used for the portfolio lining - showing Struss with his Bell & Howell motion picture camera and Graflex still camera - is a c. 1931 linocut by Ethel Struss.

This portfolio was prepared and printed under the direct artistic supervision of Karl Struss. Production was by John & Susan Edwards Harvith, for PHOTOFOLIO OF ANN ARBOR. The portfolio edition has been limited to 75 numbered sets plus 15 artist's prrofs. The vintage glass plates and film negatives used for the edition have been retired.
